Hi all,
4 things for you all to think on! First of all, are you signed up on Birding NZ? It's totally free and well worth it, as you get updated on all the interesting sightings from all around the country! You can hear about birding events, unusual behaviors and also unusual sightings of other animals, such as bugs, seals and whales! Check it out at http://www.birdingnz.net/forum/
Secondly, are you checking the Pukorokoro Miranda Site often? It is a great page filled with information on New Zealand's valuable waders, Miranda Shorebird Centre itself and the recent sightings. It is great to see the birds present at Miranda, even if you are on the other side of the country, as it is great to know what is going on! Visit the website at http://www.miranda-shorebird.org.nz/
Did you know of the project to make Stewart Island pest free? There are still a few hick-ups to sort out with the project but fingers crossed it'll all go to plan! It would be the first ever pest-eradication program conducted on the same island as a township, so if this goes ahead it'll be a great breakthrough for conservation. Lastly, who are you voting for this Bird of the Year? We'd love tohere it, especially because some of our team members are actually organising the campaign for some species!
Cheers,
Michael
